A man was arrested late Sunday after West Shore RCMP received a report about a break-in at a Colwood construction site on Sooke Road.

Police were called about 11:25 p.m. by a security company that had seen a man with a backpack enter the building at the site.

Officers arrived within minutes and spotted a suspect. When they told him the man was under arrest, he tried to flee. He was caught a few minutes later.

A search of his backpack turned up multiple tools, torches, a collapsible baton, brass knuckles and narcotics. Police also discovered he had court-imposed conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.

Adrian Graham, 33, has been remanded in custody and is charged with breaking-and-entering, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, breach of a probation order and possession of a controlled substance.
