A 30-year-old Lower Mainland man is facing several charges after being arrested in what North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP are calling a “dramatic takedown.”

The incident began when the driver of a late-model Lincoln MKS, reported stolen from the Parksville area, allegedly did not stop for police in Duncan.

The car was spotted later in the day at a residence in Crofton. As members of the Street Crime Unit moved in, a man tried to start the car and flee.

Police said he “actively resisted arrest” but was apprehended.

Ryan Abraham has been charged with theft of a vehicle over $5,000, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, resisting arrest and failure to comply with a probation order.

He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear in Duncan court by video on June 22.
