Victoria police are reminding residents to keep their doors and windows locked, despite the summer heat, after a woman interrupted a break-in at her home Wednesday night.

Police were called about 11 p.m. to a multi-unit residential building on Tyee Road after the woman reported that an unknown man tried to open her locked patio door on the ground level.

She confronted the man through the door, and he then he tried an adjacent door, which was also locked. He moved to a patio door at an neighbouring unit and it was locked, as well.

He left before officers arrived.

The suspect is described as white, 35 years old and six feet tall. He was wearing a black hoodie and a burgundy hat with a white symbol.

Anyone with information is asked to call Victoria police at 250-995-7654 and choose Option 1, or call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
