Injured cyclist in James Bay aided by passersby, emergency crews

Witnesses and neighbours turned up with crocheted wraps and umbrellas after a cyclist crashed while travelling east toward Beacon Hill Park on Dallas Road on Monday at about 10 a.m. The Surf Motel brought additional blankets.

Witnesses and neighbours turned up with crocheted wraps and umbrellas after a cyclist crashed while travelling east toward Beacon Hill Park on Dallas Road on Monday at about 10 a.m.

The Surf Motel brought additional blankets.

“There was a lot of neighbourhood support for him,” said acting Fire Capt. Neil Pierson of the Victoria Fire Department.

No one, including the cyclist, could say what caused him to crash and slide across the road face-first, Pierson said. B.C.

Ambulance Service attendants transported the injured man, who turns 32 today, to Royal Jubilee Hospital with unknown injuries.

His spine was stabilized as a precaution.

“It looks like he suffered a good whack to the head,” said Pierson, who gave paramedics one of the man’s teeth, knocked out in the spill.
