Guests arrive and a ribbon is cut Wednesday at the grand opening of Royal Oak Neighbourhood House, in a refurbished one-room Royal Oak School, which opened in 1884. The project was spearheaded by Saanich Neighbourhood Place through a partnership with Geric Construction and the support of the United Way and the Alexandra Foundation. The 800-square-foot, one-room building is available to rent for events, including parties, meetings, showers, fundraisers, anniversaries, retreats and classes.
