The bedroom in a Fernwood basement suite erupted in flames Saturday evening after a bed was pushed up against a heater.
The fire was reported at 7:17 p.m. when the people who lived upstairs came home and found smoke coming from the suite. They called 911 immediately.
No was injured. Damage caused by the blaze is estimated at $30,000.
Victoria fire sent 15 firefighters with five trucks.
They managed to contain the fire to the bedroom. The door to bedroom was closed, which prevented the fire from spreading.
