Heavy rain resulted in a stormwater and wastewater overflow along some shorelines in Greater Victoria on Sunday afternoon, says the Capital Regional District.

The area affected is near Clover Point Park, between Cook Street and Hollywood Place in Victoria.

Residents are advised to avoid going in the water along the affected shorelines, as the wastewater could pose a health risk.

Public-health advisory signs will be posted at beaches in the affected area until sample results indicate levels of the enterococci bacteria are below the recreational limit.
