Driver seriously hurt in head-on crash on Prospect Lake Road

The 24-year-old driver of a vehicle that crossed the centre line on Prospect Lake Road on Monday night and hit an oncoming car is in hospital in serious condition. The head-on collision occurred at about 9:30 p.m.

The 24-year-old driver of a vehicle that crossed the centre line on Prospect Lake Road on Monday night and hit an oncoming car is in hospital in serious condition.

The head-on collision occurred at about 9:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Prospect Lake Road, said Saanich police Sgt. Julie Fast.

Prospect Lake Road road was closed in both directions between Munn Road and Woodsend Drive for several hours.

A Ford Edge and a Nissan 240 collided, Fast said.

The Ford was approaching a curve when the Nissan came around the corner and crossed the centre line, colliding with the Ford, said police. Why the crash happened has not been determined.

The 60-year-old female driver of the Ford Edge has been released from hospital.

The 24-year-old male driver of the Nissan remains in serious but stable condition, police said.
