It tookfour doses of naloxone from Saanich police officers late Friday morning to revive an unconscious man on the Galloping Goose Trail.

Officers arrived before paramedics, so they administered the medication, which can reverse the effects of an overdose. It was not known what the man might have taken.

A passerby was first on the scene and tried to render assistance to the man, who was on the section of the trail off Ravine Way, near the Saanich police station.

The man was treated further by paramedics and taken to hospital.
