Victoria police say several Fort Street businesses were broken into overnight Thursday.

Officers responded to a report of an alarm at a business in the 600 block of Fort, between Government and Douglas streets, about 1:45 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered that at least five businesses in a single building had been targeted.

Hair salons and a restaurant were among the businesses hit.

The method of entry was the removal of glass, which appeared to resemble the approach used in another series of break-and-enters this month. In those cases, police said thieves had “sophisticated technique” of removing glass using specialized tools.

Police would like to hear from anyone with surveillance footage from the area or with information on the crime. Call Victoria police at 250-995-7654, extension 1, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
