All five occupants of a vehicle that hit a tree early Tuesday on Highway 14 at Woodlands Road were seriously injured, Sooke RCMP said.

Police, who were called at 2:15 a.m. to assist ambulance paramedics, said no further details would be released, citing privacy concerns.

The highway was closed for most of the morning as police examined the area.

Mounties are trying to determine the circumstances of the crash and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the highway from Woodlands to Veterans Memorial Parkway in Langford from 1:30 a.m. to 2:15 a.m.

Police are looking for footage of a black, two-door sedan that was westbound.

Highway 14, also called Sooke Road, runs along Vancouver Island’s southwestern coastline between Colwood and Port Renfrew.
