Firefighters rescue two dogs from Oak Bay blaze

Oak Bay firefighters rescued two dogs from a housefire Tuesday on Larkdowne Road. An Oak Bay police constable suffered minor smoke inhalation from the blaze, which caused an estimated $50,000 to $100,000 damage.

Oak Bay firefighters rescued two dogs from a housefire Tuesday on Larkdowne Road.

An Oak Bay police constable suffered minor smoke inhalation from the blaze, which caused an estimated $50,000 to $100,000 damage.

The Oak Bay Fire Department got the call about the fire around 5:30 p.m. Victoria and Saanich fire crews also responded.

Smoke was visible when crews arrived. They carried out an aggressive interior attack and were able to put the fire out on the main floor.

The dogs were alone in the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
