A shopping centre and residential site across from Victoria General Hospital in View Royal has changed hands and appears to now be part of the Jim Pattison Group of Vancouver.

Commercial real estate firm Cushman and Wakeman issued a brief statement this week saying Eagle Creek Village, at Helmcken and Watkins Way, had been sold by that firm.

It is the “largest asset to ever come available and transact in Greater Victoria,” the statement said.

It did not elaborate or include the value of the sale.

Eagle Creek includes about 100,000 square feet of retail and about 76,000 square feet of office space, and has 174 multi-family rental units.

The real estate agents were not available for comment.

Government documents show the 8.179-acre property at 20 Helmcken Rd. changed hands on March 15.

Pattison executives are listed as the new directors for the company owning the site, whose address is listed as 1800-1067 West Cordova St. in Vancouver, headquarters of the Pattison Group. A spokesman was not available.

The previous owner of the property was a real estate company based in Toronto.

Eagle Creek Village was developed by Omicron, a major development firm in Western Canada.

Omicron went to a rezoning hearing in December 2012 to allow the project to proceed. It was then billed as a $100-million development.

Quality Foods, today owned by the Pattison Group, was announced as an anchor tenant.

Eagle Creek has about 24 retail outlets, a professional and medical services office building, and residential rental units.
