Duncan RCMP ask for tips about erratic reversing driver on highway

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP is asking the public for witness accounts, dash-cam footage or other videos and photographs after an erratic reversing driver damaged several vehicles Sunday afternoon.

Police said a gold or brown Audi A4 was driven backwards along the shoulder of the Trans-Canada Highway about 1:55 p.m. while northbound lanes were closed due to an unrelated crash.

It hit a number of vehicles, but no one was injured.

The Audi was located soon after the incident was reported to police.

“The actions of this driver unnecessarily endangered the community and we are asking for your help to further our investigation,” North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment Cmdr. Chris Bear said in a statement.
