Driver evading police veers into oncoming traffic on Trans-Canada Highway ramp

An erratic driver veered into oncoming traffic on a Trans-Canada Highway off-ramp and collided with a concrete barrier in Langford on Saturday morning in an attempt to evade police who were attempting to pull him over.

Witnesses reported seeing a green Ford F350 truck driving erratically and hit the highway median several times.

About 11:55 a.m., West Shore RCMP tried to stop the driver, suspected of impaired driving, who was driving south toward Veterans Memorial Parkway. The driver attempted to flee in his vehicle, driving into oncoming traffic on the off-ramp.

Police arrested the 55-year-old man, who sustained minor injuries. No other vehicles or passengers were involved in the collision.

The man is being investigated for impaired driving, dangerous driving and flight from police.
