Salt Spring RCMP are investigating after signs to let the public know about a COVID-19 immunization clinic were painted with anti-vaccine messages.

Several of the Island Health signs were vandalized with messages like “No Vax,” police said.

“Whether this mischief was meant to be a nuisance, a political statement or otherwise is irrelevant,” said Detachment Cmdr. Clive Seabrook. “We are in the middle of a pandemic and this mischief is 100 per cent unnecessary.

“I’m proud to stand alongside the health professionals who are working very hard here for the residents on Salt Spring.”

Police ask anyone with information on the vandalism to call them at 250-537-5555.
