No foul play is suspected in the sudden death of a teenage girl in Langford on Thursday, according to West Shore RCMP.

Media have reported that the teen died of an alleged overdose.

Const. Nancy Saggar said officers were called to Langford following the teenager’s death.

“Nothing on our end is suspicious,” she said, adding the file remains open while the B.C. Coroners Service investigates.

The B.C. Coroners Service confirmed it is investigating the death of a local female teen on Thursday in the Jacklin Road area.

Andy Watson, manager of strategic communications for the Coroners Service, said it will work to determine the cause of death and can’t predict how long the investigation will take.

It is believed the girl was a student in the Sooke School District.

“We’re doing everything in our power to get supports ready for families that are affected by it, in time for school,” said Ravi Parmar, chairman of the Sooke School Board.
