Concern about a woman who entered the grounds at Sir James Douglas Elementary on Thursday morning led to a “hold and secure” situation that lasted about an hour.

In a hold and secure, exterior doors are locked while school activity goes on as normal inside.

Victoria police said the woman was interacting with a student she didn’t know. She left the grounds after staff intervened.

Police responded to the school, at Moss Street and Fairfield Road, and deemed the area to be safe. As of mid-afternoon, they had not spoken with the woman.
