Comox Valley RCMP are looking for the man who sexually assaulted a woman in a Courtenay Park in April 2018.

In hopes of generating tips, Comox Valley RCMP has released a sketch of a man who sexually assaulted a woman in a Courtenay Park last year.

The department’s major crime unit began investigating after a 34-year-old woman reported she was sexually assaulted in Sandwick Park on April 11, 2018.

She was walking through the park around 7:30 p.m. when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man, forced into a forested area and sexually assaulted.

The man is described as white, between 35 and 45 years old, about five-feet-nine-inches tall with light, reddish-coloured hair and facial hair. He was wearing a black jacket and possibly dark jeans.

“This has been a very active investigation since it was reported last April,” said Const. Shana MacQuarrie of the Comox Valley RCMP major crime unit. “We are hopeful that the release of this sketch will prompt a member of the public to contact the RCMP and assist us in identifying the suspect.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 and refer to file 2018-4964. To report anonymously, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at http://comoxvalleycrimestoppers.bc.ca
