Colwood Mayor Rob Martin is taking the possibility of a partial closure of Ocean Boulevard this summer off the table.

Council was expected to discuss a notice of motion next week by the mayor about closing a 400-metres section of the road from Friday afternoons to Sunday evenings in July and August to support events and food trucks, but Martin pulled the motion.

“Following a number of emails and comments posted on social media, it became clear that residents prioritized keeping the road open to through traffic vs. creating a pedestrian plaza around the food trucks where families would interact without cars,” Martin wrote on Facebook.
