Nanaimo residents can place any unwanted household items in front of their homes on the weekend to give away during Reuse Rendezvous.

Just slap a “free” sign on whatever you don’t want and put it by the curb on Saturday morning. Other residents will be scouring the city for unwanted treasures on Saturday and Sunday.

The point of the city-wide swap meet is to distribute usable items and keep them out of the landfill.

The city reminds participants not to block sidewalks or bike paths. People should also watch the weather and make sure their items do not get ruined by rain or blown away by wind.

Anything that was not taken should be back inside by Monday. The city will not be picking up any leftover items.

Nanaimo reminds people to practise physical distancing, and to drive and park safely. Travel slowly and keep watch for children and obey traffic signs.
