The 27th Annual CHEK Christmas Drive Thru will be different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After discussions with Island Health and the Salvation Army — which the event supports — it has been decided to go virtual, including a telethon on Dec. 11 from 5-7 p.m.
That means that instead of driving in and giving new toys and non-perishable food to the Salvation Army, the public is being asked to donate money for the cause.
Demand at the Salvation Army is up 200 per cent.
