Cedar Hill Golf Course, Sooke district parks reopen

Several Sooke parks and a public golf course have reopened to the public.

Several Sooke parks and a public golf course have reopened to the public.

Cedar Hill Golf Course will welcome golfers today for the first time since March 18, making the Saanich site one of the last courses to reopen following a provincewide shutdown. Gorge Vale, Victoria Golf Course, Uplands, Cordova Bay and other local courses have all opened in recent weeks, albeit in a limited capacity.

“We are thrilled to be able to re-open the golf course and provide another safe outdoor space for the community,” Saanich Mayor Fred Haynes said in a statement.

Golfing at Cedar Hill will be by pre-arranged tee times only, and walk-ons will not be permitted. Food and beverage services will not be available.

Parks in the Sooke district have also reopened to the public.

The Marine Park Boardwalk Trail, Whiffin Spit Park, Ed MacGregor Park and the Sooke Bluffs parks are welcoming visitors effective immediately, but with an increased bylaw-officer presence to ensure considerate use, according to the district.

Users are expected to maintain a distance of at least six feet between each other and groups are restricted to members of the same household.
