Campbell River RCMP say they will be keeping an eye on an event Saturday by the Devil’s Army motorcycle club.

The club is putting on its inaugural Devils Hand Poker Run and there will be an increased police presence, RCMP said.

“Officers will be focusing on monitoring and enforcement of both provincial legislation as it pertains to driving offences under the Motor Vehicle Act, and legislation contained in the Criminal Code as it pertains to impaired driving,” police said.

They said event organizers have not provided them with an estimate of the number of people who will be attending, and they are reminding participants to follow COVID-19 pandemic guidelines such as social distancing.

“As the cases in British Columbia continue to rise, following current safety guidelines is necessary not only to maintain the safety of the attendees but to minimize the spread of this disease within our community,” police said.

The Devils Army started in Campbell River in 2009. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit has previously called it a support club for the Haney Hells Angels chapter.
