The recipient of a high-end camera turned it over to Nanaimo RCMP after they had a hunch the Christmas gift was stolen.
The person contacted police in late December to report that they were given a Canon SLR camera and lens from a person they know is actively involved in property crime, said Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O’Brien.
The person decided they could not keep the camera and turned it over to RCMP. Investigators tried to track the owner through the serial numbers or model number, but to no avail.
Police ask anyone who recognizes the camera or has information on its lawful owner to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
