Byelection to fill Saanich council seat to be held Sept. 23

Saanich residents will head to the polls on Sept. 23 to elect a councillor to fill the seat that was held by Vic Derman, who died suddenly on March 17. Candidate nominations can be submitted starting Aug. 8 and the deadline is 4 p.m. on Aug.

Saanich residents will head to the polls on Sept. 23 to elect a councillor to fill the seat that was held by Vic Derman, who died suddenly on March 17.

Candidate nominations can be submitted starting Aug. 8 and the deadline is 4 p.m. on Aug. 18, for a term that will end with the municipal elections in fall 2018.

Nathalie Chamber, Rebecca Mersereau and Karen Harper have declared their intention to run.

Advance voting will take place Sept.13-18 at Saanich Municipal Hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting stations will be open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sept. 23.
