Businesses receiving harassing phone calls

Victoria police continue to investigate reports of indecent phone calls to local businesses. Such calls have been going on for about six months. Indecent calls are also being reported around the province.

Such calls have been going on for about six months. Indecent calls are also being reported around the province.

The issue was in the news last month when 33-year-old Joel Perry of Qualicum Beach was charged with 70 counts linked to threatening, harassing and indecent calls made across B.C. Charges included uttering threats, extortion and criminal harassment.

Police advise anyone who receives a concerning call to do the following:

* Record the time, date and phone number.

* Make notes of what the caller says, paying attention to words or phrases or anything unique about the voice.

* Report the call as soon as possible on the Victoria police non-emergency line at 250-995-7654.
