The City of Victoria says a technical issue with computer software is what caused the Johnson Street Bridge to be stuck in the down position for a number of hours Wednesday.

The issue began in the afternoon and extended into the evening, with marine users being notified when the bridge was brought back into full service by public-works staff.

One barge was delayed.

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians were not affected by the situation.
