Some final touches to the Point Ellice Bridge refit will mean a round of night closures in the coming weeks.
The bridge was closed to eastbound traffic from May to October, reopening Oct. 27 after a lengthy upgrade.
Starting Monday, the eastbound lane of the bridge will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays. The overnight closures are meant to minimize disruption to motorists.
The closures are expected to continue through December as scaffolding is removed and the contractor prepares to leave the site.
Also known as the Bay Street Bridge, the 61-year-old structure underwent a $6.1-million refit that included repairs to the concrete deck and painting of the steel on the bridge’s underside.
