Saanich Police are looking for a man who robbed a bank near Tillicum Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

The man entered the TD Canada Trust branch at 309 Burnside Rd. West at about 3 p.m. and demanded cash. Officers are looking for the robber and ask anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately.

He is described as a white male, about 50 years old, five-feet-five-inches tall and skinny. He was wearing a grey and green hoodie, blue jeans and a baseball hat.

He will likely have red staining on his hand, torso, face and clothing as a result of the bank’s dye pack deploying, said Saanich police spokeswoman Sgt. Julie Fast.

People are asked to avoid the immediate area around the bank as police investigate.

The bank robbery comes days after two convenience stores in the area were held up.

The first robbery happened about 5:15 a.m. Saturday at the 7-Eleven at 10 Burnside Rd. W., when a man entered, showed a gun and demanded money. He fled on foot.

On Sunday at 4:30 a.m., a man and a woman, one of whom had a gun, entered the 7-Eleven at 3775 Carey Rd., demanded money from two employees and fled with cash.

Saanich Police have not yet said whether the robberies are connected.
