Someone fraudulently booked an Airbnb unit to get a free stay and stole a number of items.

An agent who rents Airbnb units reported the crime to police.

The agent reported a renter booked an Airbnb unit. But upon signing into the unit, the renter cancelled, citing COVID-19. Airbnb currently offers refunds for some bookings if COVID-19 is cited as a reason for cancellation.

The renter received a full refund — and then stayed anyway. When the agent went to check the unit, he discovered the renter had stolen several items including the TV, stereo and toilet paper.
