High-tech industry leader Dale Gann has been acclaimed as the federal Conservative candidate in an upcoming Victoria byelection.

Gann, president of the University of Victoria-owned Vancouver Island Technology Park, has been involved with the high-tech sector at the executive level for the past 18 years.

He will face lawyer and New Democratic candidate Murray Rankin, Green party candidate and UVic law professor Donald Galloway, and Liberal candidate Paul Summerville, an economist.

A date for the byelection to replace NDP MP Denise Savoie, who retired in August citing personal reasons, has not yet been set.
