A woman escaped serious injury when her car burst into flames this morning near Mount Douglas Park.
The blue 2002 Volkswagen Jetta was travelling on Cordova Bay Road just after 8 a.m. today when the vehicle started smoking, said Capt. Jerry Tomljenovic of the Saanich Fire Department.
The woman pulled off the road to a safe area and got out of the vehicle, Tomlijeovic said this morning.
A ladder truck and engine responded and doused the flames.
Everything under the hood was destroyed, Tomljenovic said. The fire was contained to the vehicle.
The cause of the fire is unknown, Tomljenovic said.
