Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate a fatal crash in Burnaby.
The Barnet Highway remained closed in both directions Saturday near Texaco Drive, as Burnaby RCMP and members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team tried to determine what happened.
About 10 p.m. Friday, the Burnaby RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle rollover. When they arrived, they found an unconscious man in the vehicle and a woman who had been ejected from the vehicle.
Both the driver and the passenger were taken to hospital, where the woman died from her injuries, RCMP said.
Mounties are not disclosing why homicide investigators have been called in, but said the crash is “suspicious.”
RCMP said the man and woman knew each other and there was no risk to public safety.
