Kings' Lemieux to have hearing for biting Senators forward Tkachuk

Los Angeles Kings forward Brendan Lemieux will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety for biting Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk.

Los Angeles Kings forward Brendan Lemieux will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety for biting Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk.

Lemieux received a match penalty during a confrontation with Tkachuk in the third period of the Kings 4-2 win over Ottawa on Saturday.

Tkachuk said Lemieux bit him on the right hand as the players grappled, and the television broadcast showed blood on Tkachuk's palm.

Tkachuk said “it was the most gutless thing somebody could ever do.”

Lemieux has been offered an in-person hearing, which is required for any suspension that could be at least six games. The date of the hearing has not been announced. Lemieux would be suspended until it takes place.

The Kings next play at home against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
