MONTREAL — Summer storms caused power outages in parts of central Canada on Monday.

Environment Canada had issued severe thunderstorm watches for parts of southern Quebec and Ontario, where dozens of outages were reported.

Hydro-Quebec listed several hundred outages by late-afternoon, affecting more than 64,000 people.

Ontario’s Hydro One reported about 9,000 customers without power in eastern Ontario and said they expected to have power restored later Monday night.

Not all of those outages were related to the storms. However, crews fanned out to deal with weather-related damage which included tree branches that had downed power lines.
