Murder charge laid in slaying

Niagara regional police have charged a 35-year-old man with murder in the death of Shana Carter of Grimsby, Ont.

Carter was reported missing by her sister to Peel regional police on Dec. 11, 2010, and her remains were found on Sept. 21, 2012, in a wooded area in Blair Township south of Grundy Lake.

Carter was originally from Halifax, but was living in Grimsby at the time of her disappearance.

Christopher Lee Sharples is charged with first-degree murder.

He is scheduled for a bail hearing today.
