Homes daubed with graffiti

Residents are cleaning up racist and homophobic graffiti that appeared overnight on many of their homes, garages, fences and cars.

Residents are cleaning up racist and homophobic graffiti that appeared overnight on many of their homes, garages, fences and cars.

Police in Lethbridge said the graffiti referenced several ethnic groups, including Caucasians, and contained obscenities.

Two of the spray-painted messages said "White Nation" and "White Power."

Police said while the graffiti is extremely offensive, there is nothing to suggest that it was directed at any particular person or property.

At this point in their investigation, the graffiti is not considered hate propaganda, or bias or hatemotivated as defined by the Criminal Code of Canada, police said.

Officers are following up several leads in the case.
