Dogs are welcome to take a dip in the lake at the newest leash-optional park in the capital region. “People have to have somewhere to take their dogs for a swim because dogs like to swim. They’re just like kids,” said Langford Coun.

Car goes off ramp at Mayne Island ferry terminal, woman hurt
A woman was injured Thursday afternoon when her vehicle went off the ramp at the Mayne Island ferry terminal and landed upside down on rocks. Mayne Island Fire Chief Steve DeRousie said it took about 40 minutes to extricate the female driver.
