A man trying to leave Quality Foods in View Royal with a cart full of groceries that hadn’t been paid for threatened staff with a screwdriver when he was confronted.
West Shore RCMP were at the store within minutes of being alerted about the Jan. 20 incident, and found the suspect after he had run off and jumped into a dumpster in an attempt to elude them.
They said the 34-year-man was arrested without further incident and has been remanded in custody until Jan. 30.
None of the staff was physically harmed.
