A 56-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday after a head-on collision on Sooke Road, west of Humpback Road.

West Shore RCMP were contacted about 11:30 a.m. and shut down the road in both directions while crews tended to the scene. A detour was established via Happy Valley and Kangaroo roads before Sooke Road reopened about 2 p.m.

Police determined a cube truck veered into the oncoming lane, colliding with the woman’s SUV. Officers are still trying to find out why it happened but have ruled out impairment as a cause.
