Warning issued after bear spotted on trail near Victoria General Hospital

A black bear was spotted Sunday afternoon on a trail near Victoria General Hospital. Saanich police said the bear was not aggressive and cautioned the public to be alert and aware of their surroundings when in the area.

A black bear was spotted Sunday afternoon on a trail near Victoria General Hospital.

Saanich police said the bear was not aggressive and cautioned the public to be alert and aware of their surroundings when in the area.

The bear was seen in the area of Little Road, off Burnside Road West, at 2:40 p.m. on a trail to Eagle Creek Village and near to the hospital.

Police were unable to locate the bear.

The Conservation Officers Service has been notified.
