Victoria police investigate Gorge Road incident

Victoria police are investigating two incidents at a multi-unit residence on Monday that resulted in a heavy police presence in the 200 block of Gorge Road East. Officers responded shortly after 2:30 a.m. to a report of an assault with a weapon.

Victoria police are investigating two incidents at a multi-unit residence on Monday that resulted in a heavy police presence in the 200 block of Gorge Road East.

Officers responded shortly after 2:30 a.m. to a report of an assault with a weapon. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers later identified and found the other person involved in the incident, who was also taken to hospital with injuries sustained during the incident.

Both people were treated, then arrested and released pending further investigation.

Police remained at the scene throughout the day to execute a search warrant on the suite involved in the assault.

At the same time, officers from Victoria Police and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team conducted a firearms investigation at a separate suite in the building. Officers remained on scene for much of the day.
