Emergency crews were called to the B.C. Cancer Agency next to Royal Jubilee Hospital about 11:35 a.m. Thursday after an unidentified noxious odour led to evacuation of the second floor.

The hospital and its emergency department were not affected. Motorists were asked to access Royal Jubilee via Bay Street and Richmond Road rather than Lee Avenue.

B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics, the Saanich and Oak Bay fire departments and Capital Regional District hazardous-materials experts responded.

The Provincial Health Services Authority continues to investigate.

No further details were available.
