Two sent to hospital after vehicle loses control and crosses median on Nanaimo Parkway

The 7:30 a.m. collision closed the northbound lanes for about an hour as police, ambulances and fire crews attended the scene.

Nanaimo RCMP believe an adult woman driving a red Honda Civic southbound lost control of her vehicle, crossed over the grassy median and drove into the northbound lanes at 7:30 a.m.

An early-morning crash Monday on the Nanaimo Parkway sent two drivers to hospital with serious injuries.

The 7:30 a.m. collision closed the northbound lanes for about an hour as police, ambulances and fire crews attended the scene.

Nanaimo RCMP believe an adult woman driving a red Honda Civic southbound lost control of her vehicle, crossed over the grassy median and drove into the northbound lanes. She collided with a black Nissan going northbound.

The driver of the Honda Civic sustained life-threatening injuries while the driver of the Nissan sustained significant injuries. Both were transported by paramedics to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Police said the Honda Civic will undergo a mechanical inspection. Investigators are asking any motorists who were in the area to check if the collision was captured by dash cameras.
