The Times Colonist Christmas Fund grew by $30,000 on Friday, taking the total raised in this year’s campaign to $289,585.24. The money is coming in through the mail, through phone calls, and through online donations, in amounts small and large. One of the cheques received Friday was for $2,500.

We are slowly getting closer to our 2022 goal of $1 million — an ambitious goal, to be sure, but one that reflects the high level of need on Vancouver Island this year.

Food security remains our top priority, given the high costs being seen this year. We are working with a variety of organizations to help ensure that food reaches as many people as possible, but we are also providing for toys and a wide variety of services.

Not one penny goes to the Times Colonist, which is covering most of the costs associated with this fundraising project of the non-profit charity, the Times Colonist Christmas Fund Society.

Your help is appreciated. You can make a difference in your community, making Christmas a bit warmer for all.
