A power outage on northern Vancouver Island affected sevearl ferry sailings between Sointula and Port McNeill on Monday.

B.C. Ferries said a combination of the outage and morning tidal conditions made it so the Island K'ulut'a was unable to offload traffic at Sointula for the 7:50 a.m. arrival, or onload traffic for the 7:55 a.m. departure to Port McNeill.

The ferry was able to resume loading and unloading traffic with the next arrival in Sointula, scheduled for 10:50 a.m., but the subsequent sailing was running 24 minutes behind schedule.
