Suspect sought in attempted break-in at Nanaimo building

Nanaimo RCMP are trying to identify a suspect in an attempted break-in. The man, who was caught on security video, is alleged to have tried to break into the Royal Lepage building at 4180 Island Highway West about 5:40 a.m. on June 13.

The man, who was caught on security video, is alleged to have tried to break into the Royal Lepage building at 4180 Island Highway West about 5:40 a.m. on June 13.

The video shows a man walking onto the property’s rear deck area and then spending more than 30 minutes trying to pry a door open with a screwdriver.

He eventually gave up and left.

The suspect is described as white, heavy set and five-foot-seven. He was wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap, and was carrying a backpack.
