West Shore RCMP say two people have be arrested in connection with a string of break-ins.

Two people have been arrested in connection with at least seven break-and-enters on the West Shore from Aug. 30 to Oct. 14.

All of the incidents happened within walking distance of each other, and typically targeted vehicles and storage lockers.

Police obtained good-quality video footage of some of the incidents, and a 23-year-old View Royal man and a 32-year-old Langford man were identified as suspects with help from the Vancouver Island RCMP Forensic Identification Section.

While conducting surveillance on the suspects Oct. 6, police saw occupants of a vehicle pepper spray someone at a Fairway Avenue residence. The vehicle was stopped and the suspects were arrested.

Police executed a search warrant at the home of one of the suspects and found items from several of the break-and-enters, crossbows, ammunition and a small amount of methamphetamine.

“This is an example of how one of several suspects are responsible for many crimes, resulting in an increase in property crime for one or more specific areas,” said Const. Alex Berube.
