Partially-paralyzed Aragorn Klockars has been reunited with his E-bike, which was stolen from his home in Nanaimo about a year ago.

A Nanaimo man was shocked when the RCMP came to his home last week with the three-wheeled recumbent e-bike that had been stolen from him about a year before.

Aragon Klockars, who is partially paralyzed, used the $10,000 e-bike as his sole means of transportation. He went public with the theft, but the e-bike was never found, despite a number of tips and possible sightings.

The e-bike turned up when Nanaimo RCMP carried out a search warrant on a storage unit in the city’s South Wellington area. It was located along with another e-bike, firearms, televisions and other items believed to be stolen.

Since Klockars’ e-bike was a little beaten up, officers took up a collection among themselves and covered the cost of a tune-up and repairs at Rock City Cycles.

“The officers were aware of how much the bike meant to him and were glad they could do something to right a wrong,” said Nanaimo RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien.

The investigation into the storage-locker search is ongoing and charges are expected against one adult for property-related offences. — Times Colonist
